DO IT! It’s $2200 like you said AND it runs.
I bought a Datsun roadster for $1800 and it doesn’t run. :(

Do it. It’s a damn cool car :)
might regret it, you might love it. Either way that one time someone says ‘you know, I really like the Lancia Scorpion’ or 'what on earth is that?' You you’ll be able to say ‘I had one of those’.

If you can say “I could recoup most, all, or more than that by parting it out if something goes drastically wrong”
And if you have the money and way to collect the car after the sale..
Why the heck not?
It is a gorgeous little car... like Ferrari 512BB’s Mini-Me.
Although it does really benefit from a euro bumper and fixed-headlight conversion.
I would so buy one if I had the money, space, time, and resources.
Affordable mid-engined cars are becoming rare.
